TRAVEL AND DIRECTIONS TO THE JOURNALISM WORKSHOP AT WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY, MIDDLETOWN, CT

The journalism workshop will take place on the campus of Wesleyan University, a liberal arts and sciences school located in Middletown, CT. Only about 100 miles from both Boston and New York City, Middletown is situated along the beautiful Connecticut River in central Connecticut, just south of the state capital Hartford.

At Wesleyan, the workshop's day-time sessions take place primarily at Wilbur Fisk Hall, while evening discussions will be held at 200 Church Street, where workshop students and faculty will also be housed. Directions to Fisk Hall and 200 Church from High Street intersection with Route 66/Washington Street:
To Fisk Hall - From Route 66/Washington Street, take High Street until you approach College Street on your left. Fisk Hall is the last house on your left before College Street, on the corner of High and College.
To 200 Church Street - From Route 66/Washington Street, take High Street until it intersects with Church Street. Take a right on Church and 200 Church will be the first building you pass on your right, set back from the street.

TRANSPORTATION POINTS

  • Middletown Area Transit Station, *340 Main St., Middletown - with service from MAT buses, "M Link," Peter Pan Bus Lines and CT Transit
  • Meriden Train Station, Meriden, CT - connected to Middletown by the "M Link" shuttle, which travels between the train station and the MAT bus station at 340 Main St.
  • Hartford Union Station, Hartford (buses and trains), 1 Union Pl.
  • Bradley International Airport, Windsor Locks, CT (I-91, exit 40) 1-888-624-1533, (860)292-2000, http://bradleyairport.com - **30 miles north of Middletown, 15 miles north of Hartford. There are no regular direct shuttles running between Bradley and Middletown during the workshop.

From Hartford and points north:

Take I-91 south to Exit 22 for Route 9 southbound. At exit 15, turn right onto Route 66 West (Washington Street), turn left onto High Street.

From New Haven, New York and points south:

Take I-95 North to I-91 North. At exit 18, take Route 691/66 East. Route 66 becomes Washington Street in Middletown. Take right onto High Street.

Or, take I-95 north to the Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway (Route 15 North) to Route 66 Eastbound. Take right onto High Street.

From Waterbury and points west:

Take I-84 East. Take exit 27 to Route 691/66 East. Route 66 becomes Washington Street in Middletown. Take right onto High Street.

From Boston and points northeast:

Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) West to Exit 9 for I-84 West to Hartford. Take exit 57 over the Charter Oak Bridge and follow the signs to I-91 South. Take I-91 south to exit 22 for Route 9 Southbound, At exit 15, turn right onto Route 66 West (Washington Street), turn left onto High Street.

Or, take I-95 South through Providence, then take Exit 69 to Route 9 North (approximately 26 miles to Middletown). At exit 15, turn left.
